Isithatha Theatre

Integrating communities through the Arts Isithatha is a professional theatre & a registered non-profit organisation. It has been serving the community of Walmer, Gqeberha, for more than 14 years, enriching people’s lives through the arts. “Isithatha” is the Xhosa word for a pinpoint of light in the distance, that keeps us from despair. It is intended to represent hope for the communities we work in, empowering them to create a better future.

Desire, deception and desperation collide when Blanche DuBois arrives in New Orleans, seeking refuge with her sister Stella and finding herself confronted by Stella’s volatile husband, Stanley. As old wounds surface and fragile illusions begin to unravel, this psychological drama will take you into the intoxicating darkness of love, desire, power and the desperate need to belong.

Tennessee Williams’ timeless masterpiece comes alive under the expert direction and vision of Robin Williams, featuring some of Port Elizabeth’s finest theatrical talent including Francois Theron Malan, Vanessa Grebe, Charlize Visser and Bennie Gerber. Step aboard. The night is warm, the stakes are high, and not everyone will make it out unchanged. Mature themes & sensitive content. Parental guidance is advised.
