MyGQ Socials is a local initiative from the creators of MyPE – a social space ONLY for citizens of Gqeberha. Or, as we like to call it; “FB/X Lite WITHOUT the adverts, profiling, sneaky algorithm and sale of your data to anyone with the right amount of money!”
MyGQ Socials is ONLY open to citizens resident in Gqeberha – this is why we ask for the suburb that you live OR work in on registration.
Before the advent of Facebook and other Social Media offerings MyPE ran a very succesful and busy forum focussed on our city and it’s people.
With the advent of Facebook users ran to this new ‘shiny tool’ that promised them the world with great freedoms and then started throttling users with more and ‘better’ updates that succeeded in making users realise that they were only contributing their own content and media in order to support an advertising machine of note.
What users are now realising is that he advertising and profiling and stricter algorithms are all geared to keep people on the site for longer all to the benefit of advertisers.
AND, worse of all – all the advertising money does not benefit a small community like Gqeberha (or even South Africa for that matter) as all money paid for advertising goes into the pockets of foreigners like our good friend, Mark.
MyGQ Socials will only place advertising in the following positions:
- The footer of the site
- Every notification e-mail sent
We will not stuff your timeline with ANY advertising and will free you to use MyGQ as a valuable resource that you can use to:
- Talk to citizens in Gqeberha
- Advertise your product to in Gqeberha
- Find like minded people in Gqeberha
- Discover new places, events, and people in Gqeberha.
We only ask you to support MyGQ Socials so that we may ALL reclaim our City and keep the money flowing around our City and nowhere else.
At present MyGQ Socials is sponsored by the Stratlec Group of Companies and hosted by Reach Trust.
Should you wish to replace Stratlec and Reach as the primary and only sponsors then please contact us to chat.
